Flea Control |
| Fleas are brown to black in color and about 1/16 of an inch
long. A female flea will generally lay four to eight eggs after
each meal—possibly more than 400 over a lifetime. These eggs
will readily fall from the pet to the ground, which can give
rise to a flea infestation after the pet has gone. Fleas can
hide in carpets, rugs, floor tile joints, furniture, cracks
between wood flooring, pest bedding/resting areas and even under
furniture cushions |
| Fleas can jump 7"- 8" vertically and 14"- 16"
horizontally which is 200 times their own height. The equivalent
of a 6 foot man jumping 120 feet. |
|
| When fleas become a
problem the following needs to be done: Treat the pet. Vacuum
the house thoroughly. Take special care around areas where pets sleep
and enter the house and around baseboards. Be sure to discard the vacuum
bag when finished. In some cases carpet cleaning is necessary to remove
a great deal of the flea larvae and eggs. Treat the house as well as the
outdoors. Spring Branch Exterminators will apply insecticide labeled for
flea control mixed with an IGR (insect growth regulator). The interior
as well as the exterior of your home will be treated paying close
attention to the areas your pets bedding and resting areas |
